"The seeds were planted about two weeks ago, see attached photo. A week later the seeds has started to grow, and they grew well and fast, see video attached. The video were filmed 1.5 week after the seeds were planted. The only concern that I have is the dry weather but I hope all plants will survive in the heat. I will keep you posted of the progress with the shade house and growing of the plants."
Helena reports from Dolahena, Horana on 2nd February:
"Seeds that I brought from Sweden to try to see if they grow here were 16 different kind of tomatoes, melon, eggplant, chili, 2 different kind of bell peppers, cape gooseberry, beans, peas and 2 different kind of cabbage. I would say that so far the out com is not as good as I was hoping for it to be. The melon is growing good but it has not yet been planted in the ground. I would also say that the bell peppers are doing well so far. Most of the tomatoes are growing but not as good as I was hoping.
Another observation I have made is the lack of insects that can pollinate and that is a big concern of mine. I guess the use of pesticide in the close by area is the cause for the insect problem. From home I am used to the buzzing of many kid of insects and here I don't hear buzz except from mosquitos.
The different kind of soil is also the problem to that the seeds don't grow in the manors that I was expecting."
