We organized an agricultural workshop today for the farmers with the help of the Assistant Government Agent office and the local Agriculture Training centre. It was very successful, and a total of 58 farmers participated. We held the workshop under the new concept of 'life building' (Divi Näguma දිවි නැඟුම, ref1, ref2) coined by the government. The AGA office is responsible for the whole programme. 100 farmers were selected from each GS division, helping them to build up their home gardens.
The topics of the workshop were compost making, preparing vegetable beds, planting and maintaining fruit trees and how to develop the quality of the soil.
After the workshop they all got 5 kg of sample compost.
